Konstrukcja "there is / are"

Konstrukcji powyższej używamy, gdy mówimy o istnieniu, znajdowaniu się przedmiotów lub osób w danym miejscu.

There is a book on the table.
   Na stole znajduje się (jakaś) książka.

There are books on the table.
   Na stole znajdują się (jakieś) książki.

There are some students at the club.
   W klubie są (jacyś) studenci.

Is there a tape-recorder in your room?
   Czy w twoim pokoju jest magnetofon?

Are there any cars in the street?
   Czy są (jakieś) samochody na ulicy?

There is no car in this garage.
   W tym garażu nie ma (żadnego) samochodu.

There are not any letters for you.
   Nie ma dla Ciebie (żadnych) listów.

W konstrukcji there is dopuszczalne jest umieszczanie okolicznika miejsca na początku zdania.

On the table, there is a book.
   Na stole znajduje się (jakaś) książka.

On the table, there are books.
   Na stole znajdują się (jakieś) książki.
